Terms of use: the ground rules for this website.

By reading this site or sending a form, you agree to the terms below. They are written to be read rather than to be impressive, and the important one is the second section.

1. This website is information, not therapy

Everything here is general information about a practice, what therapy involves, and how to get in touch. Reading it, sending a form, or subscribing to the guide does not create a therapist and client relationship, and it does not make me your therapist.

A therapeutic relationship begins only after we have both agreed to it, in writing or in session, and after we have talked. Nothing on this site is a diagnosis, an assessment, a treatment plan, or a substitute for care from a qualified professional who knows your situation.

2. This website cannot help in an emergency

This site is not monitored, and messages sent through it are not seen outside working hours. If you are in crisis or in immediate danger, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. If you are outside the United States, contact your local emergency number or crisis service.

I am not able to provide crisis support, and I ask that you not wait for a reply from this site if you need help now.

3. What I will and will not do with what you send

Forms on this site are for logistics: who you are, how to reach you, and what kind of therapy you are looking for. Please keep them general. Do not send clinical, medical, or highly sensitive personal information through the website or by email, because email is not a secure channel for health information.

Anything you choose to submit is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Submissions are scanned for spam automatically and abusive or automated submissions are discarded.

4. The free self-check

The guide available on this site ("Why Do I Keep Shutting Down? A Practical Self-Check for Men") is educational material, written for men who want something practical to read and think about. It is not a diagnosis, it is free, and it is not therapy or a substitute for it.

It is not tailored to you, it cannot account for your circumstances, and it is not a treatment for any condition. If doing an exercise makes something worse, stop, and consider talking to a qualified professional.

5. Fees, sessions, and anything agreed separately

Fees shown on this site are current at the time of publication and may change. The fee that applies to you is the one we agree in writing before we begin, and the full terms of any therapeutic relationship are set out separately before the first session. Where those terms and this page disagree, those terms apply to the therapy and this page applies to the website.

6. Intellectual property

The text on this site, the guide, the logo and the photography are the property of Corbo Counseling or are used with permission. You are welcome to read, print and share the guide with your partner, your clients or your congregation, as long as it is not sold and nothing is altered or rebranded. Quoting a short passage with a link back to this site is fine. Republishing whole pages, scraping the site, or using the material to train commercial products is not.

7. Links to other websites

Some pages link to services I do not own or control, such as the SimplePractice client portal and directory listings. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the other site, and I am not responsible for its content, availability, or privacy practices.

8. Nothing is guaranteed

The site is provided as it is. I work to keep it accurate, current and available, but I cannot promise that every page is free of error, that the site will always be reachable, or that therapy will achieve a particular result. No therapist can promise an outcome, and I would be suspicious of any who does.

9. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, Corbo Counseling is not liable for any loss arising from your use of this website or from reliance on its general information, including decisions made without consulting a qualified professional. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States. If these terms change, the date at the top of this page will change with them.

11. Getting in touch

Questions about these terms, or about anything on this site, can go to ray@corbocounseling.com.
